About

"House Fleury is known for being superfluous; even forcing those who marry into it change their own names to those of flowers. Charming of tongue and alluring in appearances, this family has quickly risen in popularity and favor within high society in Ishgard. All who gaze upon their estate and family are filled with hope of spring to once again return to Coerthas."

Hooks

"She was always the odd one of all my husband's children. Favored over the children even I gave to him... With how she acts towards marriage and a lady's duties, I'm hardly surprised she became a snarling hound not unlike her mentor."
[Former] Baroness Amaryllis de Fleury.

Aeldra is a character that holds herself mostly at a distance from others due to her heritage and circumstances as an illegitimate heiress and furthermore as an Executioner. As is typical of most Ishgardian characters, she holds herself like royalty in public and then opens up in private settings.
Do not take her standoffish behavior personally.
She is willing to speak with anyone and everyone, so please feel free to interact or request an approach.

Common Knowledge

"Many a bard with little else to sing tend to weave more fantastical tales of Aeldra's mysterious lover. Some say that he attempted to force her to drink dragon's blood and was slain by her father coming to her rescue. Others— and promise you didn't hear this from me— sing that her father murdered the poor chap before they could elope and broke his daughter's heart."
Ishgardian Rumormonger.

Painfully Ishgardian

She's painfully Ishgardian and doesn't care for reminders of it. She gets it, she has a stick up her arse, so there's no need to remind her of such.Though quite ignorant of the ways of the world beyond the walls of Ishgard proper, the knight is more than willing to learn of various cultures and adapt to her surroundings should similar respect be reciprocated.

The Sorrowful Maiden of Fleury

"The Sorrowful Maiden of Fleury" is a common, yet tragic, ballad to be heard wherever a minstrel is present. The song itself tells the tale of how she'd once fallen in love with one of her family's gardeners and planned to elope, but was caught in the act by the Baron Fleury and was locked away in their family estate for several years after due to 'hysterics'.Mayhaps you have heard this song in the Forgotten Knight, Jeweled Crozier, or even on the tongue of a few bards located further south of Coerthas. Mention the song and maybe she'll tell you the true tale.

A Heart Seeking Adventure

Aeldra adores hearing about the world outside of Coerthas and is deathly curious of what the world has to offer beyond the stone and snow of the north. If you see her outside of Ishgard, you may assume that she is there as either a bodyguard to a travelling noble or helping in various ways for foreign business affairs regarding House Fleury and the Garden of Eternal Promise.

Uncommon Knowledge

"She refused to come over for tea several times before she would finally join me— most likely at her father's behest, yet that mattered little to me at the time. When I offered her flowers and gifts, she merely turned her eyes away to stare out the window for the duration of the visit... she didn't even appreciate that I'd imported lilies almost like the ones she'd been named after. Despite her winsome appearance, she refused to discuss anything related to a courtship and left the gifts behind."
A Dismayed Suitor.

For those with ties to Ishgard and Coerthas.

Noble Bastard

Aeldra is one of five known heirs born of Baron Valerianoux. Born out of love, rather than duty, she was favored by her father and named his heir at the end of his life.Valerianoux's late paramour, known to most only as "Lady Ione", was a mysterious and esteemed botanist from the Twelveswood that won the heart of the nobleman. The birth of their daughter, Aeldra Greystone, was hardly a mystery to the noble class and was greatly frowned upon. Many celebrated the death of Lady Ione, who was viewed as a stain to noble society.By the Fury's and her father's good graces, Aeldra was not cast out by House Fleury upon her mother's death, but was instead granted true-born status and the name 'Gladiola'.

The Flower Knight

Despite being a lovely addition to parties and higher social functions, Aeldra would much prefer to be in the barracks than on the dance floor. Her favorite companion is her axe and the dance partner of choice is the closest sparring partner.Trained in both Limsan & Ishgardian axe-wielding techniques by her mentor, Aeldra has earned her place in knighthood as an Executioner. Her last title is both a sense of pride and shame in equal measure; often only being spoken of when introducing herself— or not at all. She does not wish to instill fear or mistrust in those she meets.

Petal Dancer

Having been raised within a frivilous household, she was taught to dance nearly before she took her first steps. During her debut to high society, she was given the unofficial title of "Petal Dancer" for her grace upon the ballroom floor. A nice change from "bastard" or "whore's child".Should one require dance lessons to impress another, she is more than happy to teach others.

Artwork

"We must forge a new path for our descendants to follow, no matter the cost or how much our feet may bleed. We must lead them to a brighter future than the one we were shown, for if it is not us who takes this burden, then no one will."
Dame Aeldra.

House Fleury

"I heard that Baron Fleury's first wife, Lilliana, grew jealous of his paramour and poisoned her after the birth of their bastard child. He favored that babe enough to have the church recognize her as a trueborn Fleury rather than a Greystone... And that favoritism didn't end there, either, as he continues to dote over that whore's child."
Common Maids' Rumor.

For those knowledgeable of Ishgardian Nobility.

A Flower by Any Other Name...

Those familiar with Ishgardian nobility or high society know that the Fleury heirs are given names based on flora and expect their children to live up to the meaning of the flower itself. Those that marry into this noble House, especially marrying the current head of house, are required to change their name to be considered a 'true' Fleury per tradition. Very few have been granted permission to keep their birthname when marrying into this particular House. When a female child of the Fleury family marries into other households, typically of equal or higher status, their spouses may keep their name, but the firstborn child (should one be born to them) are given a floral name as homage to their mother’s bloodline.Frivolous names and titles befitting such an anomalous family.

Uprooting the Past

House Fleury is one of the youngest and yet highly respected minor houses within the Holy Sea; rising up through the ranks through their cunning, charms, and ownership of what is called the 'Garden of Eternal Promise'.Once nothing more than simple florists, they were suddenly presented a title from the Church and overflowing coffers seemingly overnight upon the debut of their gardens.Boasting a most extravagant and exotic array of flora— and the strange ability to preserve flowers beyond their usual expiration date— they quickly rose up the ranks amongst their noble peers.Selling and exporting their blessed flowers across the realm and to very exclusive patrons, they amassed quite the fortune. They were also known to supply most apothecaries, clinics, and Coerthan infirmaries with herbs during the Dragonsong War and still do to this day. Some say they were blessed by the Fury Herself, while others believe they possess of something cursed and heinous behind the scenes. One does not suddenly obtain the coin necessary to receive ranking and fund such indulgence overnight. A curiosity, really.

The Garden of Eternal Promise

Standing just as large as the Fleury estate and even more magnificent in appearance, the giant glass dome that is the 'greenhouse' is decorated with gold that shimmers brightly in the sunlight on the outside. It's truly a glorious sight to behold.Inside the garden, there's many strange devices— boasted to be of Allagan and Sharlayan inspiration— to keep the building at proper temperatures and humidity levels to nurture the flora growing within even during the coldest times of the year.White marble statues of the Fury as well as other creatures can be found along the lovely cobblestone walkways that turn into a maze amongst the trees and taller plants. At the very center is a large oak tree that changes with the seasons and within its trunk is the main fountain. Within the center of the stone, there is a large crystal that glimmers at all times of the day and night; its aetherical charge like a beacon to anyone with any semblance of aethersight or aethersense.

The men of House Fleury have a bit of a reputation of having many paramours and one night stands; thus there is expected to be more to the Fleury family or bloodline than pictured above.Baron Valerianoux, in particular, was considered to be one of the worst culprit of these rumors— proving them more often than not to be true. Though, in order to keep up better appearances to those unaware, he paid child support or had exiled the mothers and children from Ishgard proper.Do you play an unknown Ishgardian noble's bastard?

"Tis not natural magicks that the Fleury family possess. Why do I think this? Well, it just ain't natural to preserve the flowers with a simple incantation... It's all heretical witchcraft if you ask me."

OOC

Hello and thank you for checking this section out!
I would like to state immediately that IC =/= OOC.
-I live in the midwest of the US (CST). I'm 21+, nonbinary (they/them > she/her). I've played the game for 5+ years, RP'd for 10+ years, and run an FC on Mateus. My time online is typically in the evenings & weekends.I love to make friends and RP more than once with others, so please don't hesitate to add me as a friend in-game or request my Discord username.

RP STYLEI will mirror RP (mimic post-length of other RP partners) in most situations, but prefer para-style more often than not.Don't hesitate to add that bit of flavor text!

MATURE THEMESI expect that if we RP that you are 21+ and can handle mature themes [blood/gore/scars, trauma, some light sexual themes].I enjoy darker/heavier themes in RP. If we ever tread upon topics that make you uncomfortable, do not hesitate to tell me in either DM or /tell.OOC is always more important than IC.That being said:
I do not participate/condone non-con RP. Please DNI if you enjoy/participate in non-con RP.

ERPAeldra is not a character built for random ERP and is not seeking to further a physical or emotional relationship beyond simply being friends or enemies. Please DNI if ERP is your end goal with her.

LOREWhen it comes to lore, I have a simple rule of "it can be bendy, but not broken".I will not interact with characters that are considered "warriors of light" or 'otherworldly'/overpowered OCs. This is simply a personal preference & I wish you the best in your future RP endeavors elsewhere.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Please feel free to give me a follow on my socials to hang out beyond the game! I stream some evenings CST and would be happy to chat.
